BLOG 101

For some of you, who shall remain anonymous (me), a "BLOG" is still a new and confusing thing. So here are a few tips to navigate your way around this new intellectual superhighway.

1. A BLOG: is an online journal/log of whatever kind of information you would like to post (news, theories, ads, photos....) It is FREE through blogspot.com (others, too) and they offer several templates to choose from, so you just fill in the text. It is as easy as sending an email with an attachment. A "Post" refers to the written text posted that day.

2. Generally it is best to save your favorite blogs under your "FAVORITES" tab. To do this

  • Click 'Favorites' from your grey menu bar above

  • Select 'Add to Favorites'

  • Click 'OK'

3. Now the blog is saved and anytime you would like to access it, click 'Favorites' from the grey menu bar and it will be listed there (this one should read 'The Renouf Family')

4. You can "COMMENT" at the end of any post (look at the end of the post for 'comments' and click). Usually you need a gmail account to comment (which is free and easy to set up). If you don't want to comment, you can still read other's comments. It is fun to see the online string of conversation surrounding particular posts (For example, see the 6 comments on our family post, "Which Jane Austen Heroine are you?").

5. Most blogs change weekly (my goal), some really good ones post daily. So keep checking back every few days for new information. If you would like to submit anything (please, do) to our family blog, please just email it to Mom, Dad, or Heidi.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the family blog.
