I've been so preoccupied thinking about all the logistics for 'The Grand European Tour' (shoes, passport, socks, leaving the fridge full....) that I haven't had time to sit down and brush up on my European History.
And I thought, where else better to learn than from Hollywood (haha)?
And I thought, where else better to learn than from Hollywood (haha)?

Now I don't mean foreign films, although they would probably be more helpful.
I mean the American movies about Europe, where everything European is rose-colored, romantic, and lovely (nevermind the history part).
Here is a partial list:
Can you suggest any others??
Roman Holiday
To Catch a Thief

Sabrina (Audrey style)
Charade
An American in Paris
Return to Me (the last 2 minutes)
Only You (warning contains some 80's swearing)

Mary Poppins
Peter Pan
Miss Potter
Artistocats

Ratatouille
Moonstruck
An Affair To Remember
The Godfather (TV version)

Oh what a good list! I love it. I can't think of anything because you are too smart for me.
Shane says Chevy Chase European Vacation. He hasn't seen it, but he highly recommends it. Hee hee. He also says The Saint, The Bourne Identity, The Saint...and everything Jane Austen. It old him to sit still and mind his manners.
He also added The Muppet Christmas Carol, and that made me think of Great Expectations-the new one, and also Our Mutual friend which I really love. The Pink Panther movies too.
Now he says Wallace and Grommit. Lady and the Tramp. I'm going to bed.
i love how your playlist is all europe. i want to stow away with you guys. i don't know what i'm more jealous of--going to europe, or that you get to go together with your spouses, parents, and siblings. so fun.
i also love condorman. and where angels fear to tread. and room with a view. and the pink panther movies that erin already mentioned. and all the audrey hepburn movies you already thought of.
ummm...French Kiss(not for mom), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Rebecca, Midnight Lace, Gaslight, and......ok that's all I got. I Love this idea. Oh! Roman Holiday and an American in Paris are on TCM back to back this week. Do you think Turner Classic Movies knew we were going to Europe? So thoughtful of them.
Did anyone mention Forget Paris?
That's a movie Laurie loves.
Don't forget Two For The Road with Audrey Hepburn traveling from London to the Riviera with Albert Finney. (I actually love this movie. I love the two of them together.)
And I saw the movie La Vie En Rose last year about the life of Edith Piaf. It was very sad, interesting and amazing, and was filmed in.....France!
I'm with Michal, Heidi. I loved the Playlist. You'll have to add some of Edith Piaf to it.
