Well, I asked Pop for some favorites and he definitely took the higher road on his answers. He gets an A+ for getting all of his answers right. We're so glad that he participated! Next time I am going to drag some more superficial/shallow answers from him, but for now enjoy these great ones. We are so lucky to have such a good man as our patriarch.
#1 Family (Barbara, Children, Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren and all spouses). Dad loves his family. There is no question about that. Who else would put up with all of us if he didn't love us?
#2 Church ( Book of Mormon, Nauvoo Pageant ) Dad has always served willingly in The Church and set a wonderful example for all of us as a man devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has made all the difference for our family.

#3 Sports (Fishing, Golf, Pool, Hiking) It is always fun to see Dad head out to the pool with his book and towel. Somehow if there are grandsons around he always seems to end up in a water battle. I'm sure it's all those darn grandson's fault.
#4 College Football ( I know he loves BYU and USC games in particular. HINT: Don't bother him during these games. )

#5 Reading (Church History, American History). He is always reading something good for you.
WE LOVE YOU DAD! THANKS FOR PLAYING!

Very impressive Heidi that you were able to get Pop to participate! I loved all the pictures and the one of the pool, looks like something at a resort, it took me a minute to realize that it was Mom and Dad's house! This was fun to read up on Pop and find out all his favorites.
Dad is the best man I know. He has always been Mom's hero and he is all of ours, too.
I love the picture you have of Our Whole Family on your blog, and I especially love it of Dad because he looks like an athletic man; the collar, v neck and sporty tennishoes. He's such a masculine man, as we all well know, since we were raised on all his masculine interests; basketball, fishing, hiking, and lawnmowing.
Even his reading when we were growing up was masculine: James Clavell, James Michener and Louis Lamour.
I love that we have a Dad who loves to read. He's always been a newspaper reader and news magazine reader. He is always aware of new church books, and reads those BYU Studies....the essay books I love. I am always interested in whatever he recommends and have been given, and mailed many articles with a yellow post note attached in his perfectly etched, neat, tight, handwriting.
He has always shared his favorite things with all of us. He and Mom were both so good at that, and they really did instill their interests within each one of us. They also instilled the gospel and the importance of living the gospel, too.
I always think there is really only word to describe being a part of his family, and one of his children.
That word is Lucky. We are all so lucky.
Dad:
Today someone wrote on my blog that everyone should have a dad like Atticus Finch. Except I think you would play football and climb up in a tree house too. I agree, Leslie. We really are lucky in so many ways.
I'd have to agree with Grandpa's #1. No favorite thing can come first before your family. I know my family is my favorite and I couldn't wish it any different.
