Kung Fu Panda, I loved the scroll part. And feeling like you just don’t fit sometimes. Also anything about cooking is always appealing and the noodles looked pretty good. And I love fireworks; I think there were some of those in the film.

My favorite game is UNO. I love playing it with little kids. They are so illogical that I find it quite hilarious. Making rules as we go along is just the way I prefer, because we can be more flexible, don’t you think?

15. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?
My first car was a 1938 Chevrolet. I did not know a thing about taking care of a car. And I did not appreciate it, who ever knew it needed oil? I just thought keep the gas, I was young, what can I say? Finally one day it would not start, I went on vacation with my friends and poor Dad had it taken away somewhere and I decided I would rather pay my fried for gas a ride than to be a car owner. Oh what a carefree dumb girl, I still have some of those same tendencies, I admit.

18. DO YOU EAT THE STEMS OF BROCCOLI?
I have nibbled the ends of broccoli. Actually the first time I ever tried them was because of Ardeth Kapp’s sister, Sharon Larsen. We met her at Public Affairs Training in Salt Lake, at a dinner we attended, she said they taste just like celery so I couldn’t resist. She was right…..but it is not something I ever do on a regular basis.

26. OVER EASY OR SUNNY SIDE UP?
Over easy….my father used to have these for his lunch, and I used to pack his lunch for him, at least I think I did. He ate them on Helm’s Bakery Hollywood bread, pretty tasty. And of course wrapped in wax paper. And placed in his dinner bucket (To me it was a lunch pail. But Dad was from Kansas).

29. FAVORITE ICE CREAM?

****BONUS SECTION****
You didn’t ask me but I would like to suggest to each of you how I loved being your mom. I have spoken to several “empty nesters” and we all agree. We did our best and most profound work when we were right in the “thick of all that utter chaos called family life. No place on earth, no important contribution, no bestselling authorship, no possession……all pale by comparison, from reading a bedtime story, washing their hair, baking in the kitchen or even taking a child to the doctor. You kiss them goodnight and there they are in the morning and you start all over. Don’t wish it away….try to overlook the stuff in the refrigerator, the baseboards, and all the toys, shoes, jackets, books and clutter. You will miss it!!

Oh I'm so glad I tagged you Mom! I loved reading your answers and being reminded of what a silly and wonderful little woman you really are! You're amazing and I'm so glad that I get to be a party of your family. I have always felt very blessed to have you for a Mother. And I try and try and hope and hope that I can be as good to my children as you have always been to me!
Oh Mom,
Your clevers are beyond are cleverness because they are more meaningful.
I think we should give you another list of 50 questions.
I love that you added your own Bonus Section! That says everything about you.
I loved your answer and feel the same. I wish all six of mine were still little together and we were all climbing in the car, sqwabbling and fighting over seats on our way to Disneyland or to eat cream cheese sandwiches at the beach.
I love all the women you listed that you wouldn't mind being. I knew Joan of Arc would be one of them, and face it Mom, you already are Sister Hinckley. That was very sweet of you to list Cully, too. (I love that we all have our own way of spelling her name.)
My favorite answers were about being flexible, which is definitely the far better way to be. And, of course, my favorite-favorite answer was the family history under the bed and dental floss! You may not have ever had any money in your purse, Mom, but there was always dental floss. And I always loved that even the babies knew how to floss their teeth.
Do you know how many talks we could put together from these answers alone.
Thank you for all the good material!
And, thank you for the best childhood in the world!
Holly and I and The Littles went with Candice and Court to Disneyland, and Holly said she had such a Happy Childhood! She did because of you, Mom. I just tried to do what you did!
Anyway, Mom I think Catherine should have had you attend her Olympics Ceremony and had you stand on her platform with 10 Gold Medals around your neck!
You are as good as they come, Mom, and we were lucky to have you!
barbara,
i was so touched by your answers. i know that they were intended for your children, but i am a loyal lurker here. you are a great example to us moms. thank you.
"A Very Great Lady." That's what Rhett Butler says about Melanie Wilkes and it always reminds me of you Mother. You really are an amazing little woman and unique too! I don't think there is another person like you in the whole world. Except perhaps Sis. Hinckley. Leslie is right. You two are remarkably alike.
Well my favorite answers were the part about your feelings about having a driving license. I feel the same way too. I also loved the part about the dental floss. I can still picture you walking through the house with a string of it dangling elegantly through your teeth. How nice of you to say you miss having all of us kids running around. I certainly miss those wonderful carefree days at Gottes Lane with you in the midst of it. Thanks for sharing your answers and everything, and I mean everything, else!!
The world needs more people like Babs!
I just noticed I wrote are for Our. I hate it when I make grammatical errors. It's easy to do when you get going so fast on these blog comments.
Mare, I loved Mom's drivers license comments, too.
The three things Mom has always said you have to have are 1. A drivers license 2. A Triple AAA card
and 3. A Library Card.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song! Great Pick. I still have not givven up hope of going to their concert.
