Make sure you seal everything properly or you could end up with a huge mess.
I also read about people who shook up their bags by jumping them on the trampoline or putting it all in a large can and kicking it around the yard.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Summers!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup half and half
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup salt (The bigger the granules, the better. Kosher or rock salt works best, but table salt is fine.)
Ice cubes (enough to fill each gallon-size bag about half full)
1 pint-size ziplock bag
1 gallon-size ziplock bag
1. Combine the sugar, half and half, and vanilla extract in the pint-size bag and seal it tightly.
2. Place the salt and ice in the gallon-size bag, then place the sealed smaller bag inside as well. Seal the larger bag. Now shake the bags until the mixture hardens (about 5 minutes). Feel the small bag to determine when it's done.
3. Take the smaller bag out of the larger one, add mix-ins, and eat the ice cream right out of the bag. Easy cleanup too! Serves 1.

Heidi,
Thankyou so much for posting this recipe! It sounds like so much fun and so easy! I can't wait to try it with my Annabelle and Babes!
Great idea. We'll have to give it a try.
Love the new look...
Well You've been busy. I love the new look too! It makes me want to update to a more summery background. I love Ice Cream by the way. I'm a baskin robbins fan a love to get a mint chip and chocolate chip cone(mint chip on the bottom of course) I think I know what tomorrows FHE activity will be!
Dear Heidi, we purchased all the ingredients and necessary ice and plastic bags and then went out for homemade ice cream at Annie's Custard in Nauvoo. Our favorite flavor was created on the very spot, it contained chocolate yummy custard with large chunks of walnuts and marshmellow and boy was it delicious!! So hopefully tomorrow I will ship up a batch of your ice cream, too. We love your new blog look. Love, Dad and Mom out here in Illinois
Thanks for this fun recipe.
My kids can't wait to make it.
