The Cookie doesn't fall far from the Oven

Our family sports more chocolate cookie recipes than anyone I can think of.....Everyone has their own special twist on the old Great Grandma favorite. We LOVE baked goods, and espcially chocolate chip cookies.

In fact, in our family it is socially acceptable (and for some even self-diagnosed-medically-necessary) to have a cookie for breakfast, and/or lunch, and/or dinner, and/or for a midnight snack, and/or any other time you find your eyes open during the day.

As we all grow older, we look to the next generation to carry on this noble tradition of cookie baking. Sailor Mylroie has graciously offered to share her prized Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe with the family.

Without further ado, I present:

Sailor’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies (written by Sailor)

Chocolate chip cookies are fun to make and easy to bake. To make my famous, delicious, any-time cookies, you’ll have to follow a few easy instructions and gather the right ingredients. In about ten minutes, you’ll have a hot, fresh, scrumptious cookie.
Let’s get everything ready. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In the meantime, gather measuring cups, measuring spoons, a large mixing bowl, a cookie sheet and a wooden spoon. You’ll also need these ingredients:
½ cup of soft butter
½ cup of sugar
½ cup of brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 and ¾ cup flour
1 cup chocolate chips
Let’s make the dough. First, put the butter and both sugars in the large mixing bowls. Stir until fluffy. Second, add the egg and vanilla and stir. Third, put in the salt, soda, and powder, and stir again. Fourth, put in the flour a little bit a time and stir well. Last of all, mix in the chocolate chips.
Now that your dough is ready, let’s bake the cookies. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Place cookie dough balls on the cookie sheet about two inches apart. Bake until just golden brown. Let cool for two minutes.
Get yourself a glass of milk and a napkin. Prepare to enjoy a wonderful homemade chocolate chip cookie. Be proud that you made it yourself!
