Five Things...

#1. First off, I want to wish Mom a 'Happy Happy Birthday, Mother Dear'. She is doing well after her foot surgery. She sounded great this morning and is optimistic for her foot-ture (future--okay that was a stretch, but Mikey would be proud of me for trying :)
#2. Carolynne Zuniga Tillery and Justus welcomed their baby girl into the world on Tuesday, April 15th. I have not heard the specifics but we will post them when we get them. Congratulations to their family!

#3. Congratulations to Rosy Renouf for her upcoming graduation from U of U Business School. She earned her MBA while working full time. She is also leaving soon to run the Boston Marathon. Good Luck!

#4. Also very important--rumer has it that the famous "FLAKY FLIX" Cookie Wafers are coming back. Mother's Cookies pulled them off the market for a while, but supposedly they are returning soon. Check your local markets !

#5. I found this blog that has GREAT Crafting ideas for children. We tried the 'Microwave Puff Paint' and the 'Flower Felt Boards'. I thought all the ideas were very good for a tactile art experience. Here is the link: http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/

I can't believe no one has written a word about Fiddle Flakes, which is either their original name, or simply the name Mother decided to call them. She sometimes does that you know. Way-back-when-Randy, was often called Andy......and someone else was called Leon and Holly for many weeks when she was born was called Angelina. (I hope no one minds me mentioning these nicknames of Mother's...they were just past examples.) I am certain there are more examples, but these are just a few I could remember.
I will always think of Fiddle Flakes as "The Renouf Family Store Bought Cookie," and can't wait to stock my pantry with them.

I've decided to leave a comment a day about Fiddle Flakes until someone else does.
Dad also used to buy these at the market all the time, when it was his turn to shop.
Surely, someone else out there has some fiddlestick memories.

I notice that I called them fiddlesticks in the last comment. Of course, I meant, Fiddle Flakes.

My favorite way to them is when they are near melting.
Not messy melting, but almost.

Okay Leslie,
I'm on the case of the fiddleflakes, I'm so glad you are too. I posted this weeks ago and no one cared. I'm glad to have a flixy buddy.
So Mikey swears he was called Robby by Mom for years. After waiting 2 hours for a free ride home with Jack, Mom would say, "Bye Robbie" and Jack would explain, "Mom, his name is Mikey"...and Mom would say, "I know. Bye Robbie."...Who can resist Mom? She is so comfortable in her own skin.
Anyway, Dad found the fiddle flakes at Albertson's and hid them in his cupboard. Reeve and Ivy spotted them and tried them. They spit them out and I ate the whole box. I still love their crisypy chocolaty summer, Renouf Family taste. Has anyone else found them yet?
Thanks for the flaky comments! :)

Oh fiddlesticks! I LOVE fiddle flakes, but I haven't found them at my market yet! It's heartbreaking!

I have more nicknames to add Mom's list
Annaliese was Molly
And the best one of all is that little baby Roy (Roy not Roy Roy) was called Robin as a Baby!!! HAHAHA!

I had no idea that Mom called Holly Angelina! And I can atest to the fact that she did call Mikey, Robby!

Wait a minute:
I thought they were flaky flix?
Fiddle Flakes?
Flaky Flix?
Flixy Fiddles?
Fiddly Flax?

Did I have it wrong all these years? I hope so. I don't know if I want to eat anything called flaky. It's too descriptive of my inner and outer workings.

Fiidlesticks. We have a lot of Scarlett O'Haras out there. I have been hunting fiddle flakes for years but they are a very allusive, skitish type of cookie. I still can't find them at any market but I have not given up hope. My next step will to speak to the supplier at the grocery store. They need to know what a serious matter this is!

Okay i just realized Scarlett O'Hara does not say fiddlesticks but fiddle dee dee. I knew that did not sound right when I wrote it. So..... I guess it's going to be one of those type of mornings.

"So zippedy ay and heidi ho
there's something we can do
we'll go to the store and buy a few
Happy Fiddle Flakes to you."

Sorry, I felt a song coming on.

Hurray, everyone has fiddle flakes stories. I knew everyone would.

Someone just rang the doorbell so I will write more about Robbie, Robin and Molly later.

Fiddlesticks! All of this talk of fiddle flakes is only making me want them more. And I don't know where I can get them! Leslie,
