Two Big Wins

WIN #1: Congrats to Sailor! She won a book reading contest through her orthodontist. She read 88 chapter books in 2 months! Thus winning the grand prize of a small shopping spree to Barnes and Noble. What a perfect prize for our little bookworm. Congrats Miss Say-Say!

THE WINNER!

WIN #2: Another win for their family: Erin won 1st Place for Good Housekeeping's Heart Healthy Food Contest with her Ethnic Favorite's Dish, "North African Spice Rubbed Chicken Foldover". She won a fun monetary prize ($5000.00!!), and a trip for two to NYC. Erin, Heidi, and Mary Kate had a wonderful quick weekend getaway to the Big Apple. They caught a broadway show, went to the MOMA Museum, ate lots of good food, attended galas and church, and stayed up way too late. Here are some pics, and Congrats to Erin again and thanks for letting your little sisters tag along.

The WINNER!

The official proof that she won!

Erin hobnobbing with Sara Moulton. (Incidently, the only Food Network Star that Mom likes because she dresses modestly :)).

The view of Central Park from Erin's Fancy Schmancy Good Housekeeping Gala.

Erin and Mary Kate outside the Broadway Show, "Promises, Promises".

Erin and Heidi at a local Mediteranean Restaurant.

Mary Kate cruising through Central Park (with ice cream, of course).

Sunday's visit to church inside of the NYC temple.

Mary Kate and Erin leisurely walking through a street fair. Someone behind us said they had never seen people walk so slow. (It was actually true)

Reeve, otherwise known as River B

Awww. Here's our recent, enigmatic Friday Favorite.
I got the wrong I love Lucy, it seems. Reeve reported that he likes the one "where the chicken flies up." I assumed it was the episode where messy Lucy keeps chickens in the house, but no. The episode is better known as the candy factory, where Lucy and Ethel can't keep up with the modern chocolate production. At home, Fred and Ricky are busy making a dinner or arroz con pollo, when the pressure cooker rockets two chickens to the ceiling. My mistake, Reeve.
By the way, did everyone have a patriotic Fourth of July? Hope so.
